The combat and loot systems garnered quite a bit of criticism. Dark Alliance garnered a fairly tepid reception upon launch, and less than two years later and the game is basically dead on Steam. Most years seem to produce new D&D games, and such frequent output unsurprisingly translates into inconsistent projects. Hopefully, upcoming titles like Minecraft Legends, Diablo 4, and Baldur's Gate 3 will change that. While hardly bad, there are not all that many projects natively available on the hardware that offer deep story-driven co-op experiences. That said, the console still has a ways to go before it fully hits its stride, and that is reflected in the PS5's co-op games selection. There are plenty of great co-op games players can run on their PS5s and play with friends locally, or through the internet. The system's backward compatibility alone grants players access to some of their favorite titles with a serious graphical boost. In the meantime, there are already plenty of amazing games to play. The PS5 is moving along nicely, and 2023 could prove to be the generation's breakout year.
